The radiation driven winds of rotating B[e] supergiants

چکیده
We have formulated the momentum equation for sectorial line driven winds from rotating stars including: (a) the oblateness of the star, (b) gravity darkening (von Zeipel effect), (c) conservation of angular momentum, (d) line driving specified by the force multiplier parameters (k, α, δ), (e) finite disk correction factors for an oblate star with gravity darkening for both the continuum and the line driving. The equations are solved numerically. We calculated the distribution of the mass flux and the wind velocity from the pole to the equator for the winds of B[e]-supergiants. Rotation decreases the terminal velocity in the equatorial region but hardly affects the wind velocity from the poles; it enhances the mass flux from the poles while the mass flux from the equator remains nearly the same. These effects increase with increasing rotation rates. We also calculated models with a bi-stability jump around 25 000 K, using force multipliers recently calculated with a Monte Carlo technique. In this case the mass flux increases drastically from the pole to the equator and the terminal velocity decreases drastically from pole to equator. This produces a density contrast in the wind ρ(equator)/ρ(pole) of about a factor 10 independent of the rotation rate of the star. We suggest that the observed density contrast of a factor ∼ 102 of the disks of B[e] stars may be reached by taking into account the wind compression due to the trajectories of the gas above the critical point towards the equatorial plane.

Ionization structure in the winds of B[e] supergiants II. Influence of rotation on the formation of equatorial hydrogen neutral zones
Context. B[e] supergiants are known to have non-spherical winds, and the existence of disks that are neutral in hydrogen close to their stellar surface has been postulated. A suitable mechanism to produce non-spherical winds seems to be rapid rotation, and at least for three B[e] supergiants in the Magellanic Clouds rotation velocities at a substantial fraction of their critical velocity have b...
متن کاملOutflowing disk formation in B[e] supergiants due to rotation and bi–stability in radiation driven winds
The effects of rapid rotation and bi–stability upon the density contrast between the equatorial and polar directions of a B[e] supergiant are re–investigated. Based upon a new slow solution for different high rotational radiation driven winds (Curé 2004) and the fact that bi–stability allows a change in the line–force parameters (α, k, and δ), the equatorial densities are about 102–104 times hi...
متن کامل2-D non-LTE models of radiation driven winds from rotating early-type stars I. Winds with an optically thin continuum
We extend previous 2-D models of line-driven winds from rotating hot stars by accounting for the dependence of ionization structure and occupation numbers on local physical properties (density, velocity field) and the non-local stellar radiation field. For this purpose, we formulate for the first time an approximate non-LTE description of 2-D winds. We propose the concept of a “mean irradiating...
متن کاملIonization structure in the disks and winds of B [ e ] stars
We investigate the ionization structure in the non-spherical winds and disks of B[e] stars. Especially the luminous B[e] supergiants seem to have outflowing disks which are neutral in hydrogen already close to the stellar surface. The existence of neutral material so close to the central star is surprising and needs to be investigated in detail. We perform our model calculations mainly in the e...
